Once a Gooner, Always a Gooner

Where should I start? The club of my dreams, the Arsenal Football Club, has given me tremendous joys and unforgettable pains since I started following it. But that's what the life of a football fan is. Your team scores a goal, and you are up on your feet celebrating like you scored it yourself. When your team loses, every day until the next match feels like the main character of a series has died, and there is no hope left. You feel every emotion—joy, anger, ecstasy, thrill, sadness, and everything in between.

So, I’ll start with myself. I fell in love with Arsenal FC, not because of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, or their invincible season, but because of the values and style of play this club has embodied. No aimless long passes, no crosses into the box without intent, no desperate measures. Arsenal believes in football as an art form—fluid passing, technical brilliance, and an unwavering commitment to beautiful football. They make superstars; they don’t just buy them.

It wasn’t an easy choice. Supporting a club like Arsenal means embracing the pain with the joy. The highs are euphoric—last-minute winners, breathtaking team goals, and moments of pure magic. But the lows can be crushing—title races lost at the final hurdle, shocking defeats to teams you should be beating, and long periods of transition when everything seems to be falling apart. Yet, through all of this, there is a sense of belonging, of being part of something greater than just a football team.

One of the things that drew me to Arsenal was their commitment to doing things the right way. Arsène Wenger’s philosophy of building a team from within, of nurturing young talent, of playing football that was not just effective but also beautiful, was something that resonated with me deeply. The team of Fabregas, Rosicky, and Van Persie didn’t win as many trophies as they deserved, but they played football that made you fall in love with the game over and over again.
Supporting Arsenal has taught me patience. There have been years of frustration, of watching rivals lift trophies while we struggled. But there have also been moments of magic—the FA Cup triumphs, the resurgence under Mikel Arteta, and the return of the belief that Arsenal could once again be at the top.

What makes Arsenal special isn’t just the trophies or the players. It’s the community, the fans, the passion. It’s knowing that every time we step onto the pitch, we do so with an identity, a purpose. Arsenal is more than a club; it’s a way of life.
Through the highs and lows, I will always be here, supporting the club I love. Because once you choose Arsenal, it’s never just football—it’s a lifelong commitment.
